SCENE BANDS: You have been dismissed.

Posted: November 25th, 2008 By: Jesus Is My Middle Name | Under: Music, Style, dismissed, people | Tags: , , , , , , , ,

Fall Out Boy, Panic At The Disco, Cobra Starship, The Maine, Mayday Parade, Metro Station, Big City Kids, All Time Low, Hellogoodbye, you are all dismissed, and any band who sounds like you, looks like you, or wants to be like you.

There was a time when music meant something, not that there aren’t bands now who are amazing, this every growing popular scene must die. I used to look through the pages of Alternative Press and other zines when I was in High School and would be inspired to go out and pick up an album from Jawbreaker or check out Botch. Now, pick up Alternative Press and every photo is either a picture of Fall Out Boy or one of their many clones. Look on the internet and every band looks the same sounds the same, and look like the members all had the same mothers. There was a point when we were not inundated with colorful candy pop rock bands who all wear the same hoodies and loud t-shirts. It is like all of these bands cater to the same sort of kids and girls that N’Sync and the Backstreet Boys also catered to.

The first time we really began experiencing these national scenester bands and teenage groupies was when Blink-182 hit the scene in 98. Dozens of rip off bands with similar looks appeared, kids began dressing like them across the country.

There have always been other scenes across the country, but they were smaller, they were not mainstream, and they were not every where you looked. And never the “COOL” thing to do for 11 year olds all the way to 22 year olds.

Scene bands you are dismissed, this also goes for all those awesome hardcore and screamo bands that we hate so much.

Its like I never got to say hello to say goodbye. I haven’t heard of any of these bands, they look like brats so dismiss them immediately.

So, what scene exactly are these ass clowns a part of? I mean, this is pretty basic poseur bs, right? I’m not saying you shouldn’t dismiss them, pete wentz’s collar bone necklace tatoo makes me honk up my lunch every time I see it, but I don’t think anyones scene is actually in peril. Maybe the Brea mall’s scene.

yeah im going to go ahead and disagree with you on this one. not on the grounds that i think any one of those bands are good but on the grounds that all those bands are due to the inexperience of youth. i can remember thinking i was the most original mother fucker in the world. now that im older i just realize i was trying so hard to fit in. if i were to go through my old catalogue of music i know there would be scores of bands i used to think were the cats meow and now i wouldn’t even admit i ever listened to them. everyone always feels that the music they listen(ed) to was the best like it was some sort of golden age of music. BULLSHIT! everything has been done everything is unoriginal since the 60’s or maybe 70’s. watching that embedded youtube i cringe and think back to a day when i thought irony was funny. when silly hair and sticking out was cool. when acting outrageous and appearing flippant meant you were punk. to dismiss scene bands would be to dismiss youth and if you did that i would agree. youth you are dismissed… old is the new young.

I like Fall Out Boy. Sometimes I just like stupid, simple music. I told meat hat once that I liked them and he told me to ‘never tell anyone that again.’ Guess I didn’t listen so well. Ahh ha!

Are you trying to tell me you wouldn’t hump every one of those dudes in the top photo? Aside from the fact that seeing their tighty whiteys makes me feel like a child molestor, I would take any of them behind a dumpster. Especially the one in the sweet puffy sneakers. I would feel like I was bangin an athleete and everyone likes that.

I thought “scene” shit was a different breed of garbage than the breed you mentioned.

Which is in fact, piece o’ shit “music”

    just sayin’.
