Half Socks: You Have Been Dismissed.

What is the deal with half socks? Is the extra length too much effort to stitch on? Is the point to show off your awesome ankles? Does that extra couple of inches restrict your movements too much? Half socks your purpose is a mystery to me.

Unless your a dancer I don’t see the reason for wearing half socks. I like my socks just the way they are, normal length to my calf. I prefer the typical white athletic cotton sock with one or two colored stripes on them. That’s it. Not extra thin, not extra tall. Just a normal sock.

Half socks are just another way of the footlocker guys to make an extra commission when you come in to buy your (fill in the blank) shoes. And speaking of extra commission: also see shoe cleaner, also see shoe glue.

Why do we feel that we have to re-invent something that works perfectly already. I mean what’s next… jackets with half sleeves?

People trust me your white, sun ridden, pasty legs don’t need anymore attention then they already have. I say cover up your ankles and proudly strut your legs around town with normal socks.

Half socks you will never measure up to a true normal sock and you can only do half the job. Besides that you look weird. Sorry half socks, you’re dismissed.

I will openly admit, I have a drawer full of half socks at home. In fact, I wear them all the time, sometimes with PANTS! Why do I have them?

Well… I was not raised in the IE, so genetically, I can’t wear long socks with shorts. Its just not something I can do. I either wear low socks with my sneakers or I wear flip flops. I respect the lads who can pull off the flat bill, vans with black socks pulled up their knees look, but I can’t do it. Sorry.

My other reason is that low socks don’t feel like wearing a sweater on my lower legs when I am actually out doing something active. I mountain bike, and because of that, I have a boatload of cycling socks that are far more comfortable than normal socks. That’s what I have on today:

Nobody sees my ankles at work. Nobody knows what socks I have on. I wouldn’t dream of wearing low socks to a formal occasion. Its just for decoration. That’s it and that’s all.

half socks are half the hassle. I’m rocking some right now under my jeans, my ankles are totally aired out. That’s important right?

Wearing them Mt biking, totally appropriate. However I think your legs will itch more.

Note to self: dismiss flat bill hats

Also in addition to comment #4

“Note to self: dismiss flat bill hats”

You should also include its variants, such as. Flat billed hats that have been conditioned to curve up. And the hats with out adjustable size strap.
